Q: How is the product applied?
A: Each full pump delivers a measured amount of lotion. Place two full pumps on the inside of wrists and rub wrists together until the lotion is absorbed into the inner arm area. The lotion may be applied anywhere but this particular area typically has thin skin and assures maximum benefit. The lotion may be applied to your face but be careful around the eyes.
Q: Are there parabens in this product?
A: No. Parabens are used as preservatives in lotions that are exposed to air. Maxasorb™ B12 uses an airless pump keeping the lotion unexposed to contaminants.
Q: Why is the lotion pink?
A: Natural Vitamin B12 is bright red and imparts the color in the naturally white lotion. No artificial colors are added.
Q: Why does the lotion have a peppermint aroma?
A: Natural peppermint oil in the lotion adds a pleasing aroma in addition to improving lotion absorption into the skin.
Q: How should the product be stored?
A: Store the product at controlled room temperature of 55° to 86° F. Avoid overheating the product such as storing in a hot car or in sunlight.
Q: What are the benefits of Vitamin B12?
A: Vitamin B12 and folate are essential for preserving DNA integrity. They are also important for lowering homocysteine levels. High homocysteine levels increase risks for cardiovascular problems. B12 is also essential for synthesis of neurotransmitters and maintaining healthy neurons (nerve health). Healthy neurons improve cognitive processes and increase overall energy levels. Because vitamin B12 malabsorption and vitamin B12 deficiency are more common in older adults, the Linus Pauling Institute recommends that adults older than 50 years take 100 to 400 mcg/day of supplemental vitamin B12.
Q: How much Vitamin B12 is in each application?
A: Maxasorb™ B12 cream contains 320 micrograms of methylcobalamin (Vitamin B12) per two full pumps of lotion. The Recommended Dietary Allowance (established by the Food and Nutrition Board of the National Academies, Institute of Medicine) for a person age 14 and older is 2.4 micrograms. Additionally, Maxasorb™ B12 contains 10 micrograms of Folate per application. The RDA for persons over the age of 14 for Folate is 400 micrograms.
Q: Is there anything special about Maxasorb™ B12 Cream?
A: Maxasorb™ B-12 is scientifically formulated to use a proprietary delivery system for Vitamin B12. This laboratory-developed topical lotion uses similar technology as our patented B12 Patch. Additionally, the lotion contains skin moisturizers and conditioners that are great for any type of skin.
Q: What are general concerns about children using this product?
A: There is a lack of suitable data for tolerable intake levels of B-Vitamins in children up to age of 12. After age 12, routine daily intake of Niacin should be less than 20 milligrams and Folate should be less than 600 micrograms (source: Food and Nutrition Board of the National Academies, Institute of Medicine). Consult your child’s doctor for guidance on use of this product.
Q: Why is there Niacin in the product?
A: Dietary surveys have indicated that up to a quarter of adults over the age of 50 do not consume enough Niacin to maintain healthy levels. Niacin is crucial to maintain genome stability (preventing broken DNA strands). Older adults should include at least 20 milligrams of Niacin per day in their diets and this level is most often achieved through supplementation. Niacin (Vitamin B3) also contributes to higher energy levels and overall well-being. Maxasorb contains 120 micrograms of Niacin per application.
Q: Can I use too much Vitamin B12?
A: No toxic or adverse effects have been associated with large intakes of vitamin B12 from food or supplements in healthy people. Doses as high as 2 mg (2,000 mcg) daily by mouth or 1 mg monthly by intramuscular (IM) injection have been used to treat pernicious anemia without significant side effects. When high doses of vitamin B12 are given orally, only a small percentage can be absorbed, which may explain the low toxicity. Because of the low toxicity of vitamin B12, no tolerable upper intake level (UL) has been set by the US Food and Nutrition Board.
